The Ultabatti — Turned Upside Down, Tuned to the Soul

The Ultabatti — meaning "upside down" in Nepali — is one of the most revered forms in the Tibetan singing bowl tradition. Its distinctive inverted shape creates an exceptionally deep, earth-resonant tone with long sustain and rich harmonic layers that seem to fill the room long after the strike.

This 10-inch handmade bowl is forged using the traditional seven-metal alloy technique, hand-beaten by Himalayan artisans whose craft has been passed through generations. At this size, the Ultabatti produces a powerful low-frequency vibration ideal for full-body sound immersion and deep meditative states.

Key Features

10" diameter — large enough for full resonance and group sound healing sessions
Ultabatti form — distinctive inverted profile amplifies low-frequency overtones
Handmade — individually hand-hammered; no two bowls are identical in tone or finish
Seven-metal alloy — traditional blend including copper and tin, believed to carry planetary energies
Long sustain — tone rings out slowly, perfect for meditation, breathwork, and chakra work

How to Play

Rest the bowl on an open palm or a cushion to allow free vibration. Strike the outer rim with the drumstick for a deep bell note, or slowly circle the leather mallet end around the rim to build a continuous singing tone. The larger the bowl, the slower and more deliberate the circling motion should be — let the bowl find its voice.
